Please, she must escape! “Run faster!” As long as Tess Sanoby can remember, she has always had the same nightmares, where the girl in her dreams is running for her life with an unknown force chasing her. Each time, right before the girl is caught, Tess awakens, shaken with fear and confusion. Who is the girl? What do these dreams mean? Getting through the growing pains of high school with her best friends Jack and Kylie, and then being accepted into her dream college, Tess is excited to start her life of independence. There, she meets the mysterious trainer and mentor, Chris, and she instantly feels a strong connection with him. Unfortunately, Chris wants nothing to do with her. Although Chris continues to give her the cold shoulder, his overprotectiveness and the occasional slips of sensitivity confuse Tess. Not understanding Chris or their relationship, she is on a constant emotional roller coaster with him. Could her best friends be the stable force that she desperately needs? Unfortunately for Tess, the more she tries to connect the missing pieces of her life, the more obscure her past and future appear to her. To make matters worse, she realizes she has fallen hard for a man who may be her worst enemy. As passion ignites between the two, she can’t help but surrender her heart and soul to him. Tess is unexpectedly exposed to a world of secrecy, deceit, and danger, causing her to be running for her life, chased by the unknown. Can Tess escape and save not only herself, but also her loved ones? Or, will she be caught, leaving her no choice but to face her worst nightmare? Chaysing Dreams is the ultimate love story, full of suspense, friendship, betrayal, tragedy, and sacrifice. Tess, the main character, is a loveable young woman. She's bright and athletic, has a great family, and a good life. The author rounded her out so well, that you can literally see her as a real person. Her volunteer work at The Angels, and interactions there, are touching. Seeing her grow up before your eyes is also done so seemlessly. There was no jumping around, it just flowed perfectly. The supporting charatcers are perfect, here, they don't get in the way with unecessary information. They carry out their supporting roles perfectly, but you know enough about them that you really like them, and appreciate the love they have for their friend, Tess, and each other. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the main male character is a hottie, and very...energetic! As mysterious as he is, you get such a sense of him from the author that you know him just as well. His motives, however, are suspect, and this gives you cause to keep a suspicious eye on him. For me, he was the whole source of the suspense. This book does exactly what a good book should: you smile alot, all the while the suspense is building- delicately, at first, and you find yourself trying to second guess the story, but you wont figure it out, and thats what makes the ending even better, and all the more shocking! I can see where there would be room for a sequel here, and I really hope she writes it. The story is so well told, and the characters so engaging and interesting that I wouldn't mind seeing this come full circle! A good read for all ages, but I think it will be particularly loved by the YA crowd, they will be able to connect with Tess on an even more intimate level, and so much of her life will resonate soundly for them.

The wait was worth it! This book was amazing! I have read a lot of books, many of them from the paranormal or fantasy genres, but this one definitely stands out. It takes a paranormal/fantasy theme, tosses it with some YA/NA angst and steamy romance, and shakes it up with a lot of suspense and mystery! It was like nothing I've ever read before. The author really brings you into Tessnia's life and makes you feel like you are apart of it. Tess thinks she ordinary, but in reality, she is anything but. It was fun watching her life unfold and learning about her, as she learns about herself. Her life is seemingly perfect...she excels at everything she tries, has a great family, and fantastic friends. The author makes you want to love her easy life and hate her perfection all at the same time! Ms. Williby definitely sets you up to feel like there is something there...something just beyond your reach as a reader that indicates that her life might not be as picture perfect as it seems. That feeling carried me page after page after page as I devoured this story. I absolutely had to know what happened. And the male lead...what can I say about him?! He is definitely swoon worthy! He's a bad boy overflowing with that mysterious vibe that gets your blood moving, but underneath all that beats the heart of a passionate and romantic good guy. He wants what he thinks he can't have or doesn't deserve. The way their relationship unfolds is fun, flirty, and intense! It's hard not to get attached to all the characters...even Tessnia's adorable dog, Gem! Overall this story is a must read! I couldn't put it down and I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for the next book! I have to know what happens next with Tessnia and everyone else!

Have you ever found yourself reading a book and the main character seems to get into one mess after another. It seems like just when she’s has solved one problem, another one comes up? I have and I can’t even remember how many times I thought to myself - just once, I would like to see a smooth ride and have the main character get what they want and have a nice go of it for a change. I realize now that was wrong. We need conflict in our books and our characters need to be flawed. I just finished Have you ever found yourself reading a book and the main character seems to get into one mess after another. I have and I can’t even remember how many times I thought to myself - just once, I would like to see a smooth ride and have the main character get what they want and have a nice go of it for a change. I realize now that was wrong. We need conflict in our books and our characters need to be flawed. I just finished Chaysing Dreams by Jalpa Williby and I’m feeling very conflicted about this novel. I will say this; I have never read anything quite like it. This could have been a great novel, but there were just too many things that missed the mark. Things I didn’t love: • If it were up to me, I would go over this and take out 75% of the exclamation marks used. It was distracting and pulled me out of the story. This is a common mistake, one I have admittedly made myself. Characters can’t be that excited all the time. • I would also take out 75% of the self-description. I get that she is beautiful and has long eyelashes, but telling me once will suffice. This is an even trickier situation when it is done in first person. In my opinion, I just don’t know how you could pull it off describing yourself as beautiful multiple times in first person and not come off negatively. All I kept thinking when I read one thing after another about Tess was that this was a bad case of Mary-Suism. See bottom of review for more explanation. • The characters were not flawed, like at all. Everyone in Tess’s world is perfect, but no one as perfect as her. There were points during the book when she was describing how perfect she was and how perfect her life was, that I actually was wondering if what I was reading was real. I have finished reading the book and I’m still not even sure what I could pick out for Tess’s flaw. I mean, this girl was perfect. I’m not even sure she made ONE bad decision in the entire book. • Missing conflict. This book should have started on page 70 where we meet Chris. Everything before it was just “I’m so perfect” filler. The biggest problem I had with Chaysing Dreams is that Tess was so perfect, I never had a chance to become attached to her or root for her. • We jump from present to past tense a lot and it was a bit distracting. This would be an easy fix. Also guilty of this myself in my own writing. • Dialogue came off as a bit inauthentic, especially Tess’s love interest, and especially when we see him again later after he has been gone a while and he is sort of teasing her while he has been gone. I felt like if they had been separated for a while, the tone wouldn’t be flirty, especially after the way Tess got to the cabin. I get why it was done, probably to add romantic tension, but it seemed inappropriate. • The play by play on what Tess was doing got a little tedious. This happens a lot in first person/present tense and can be very tricky to accomplish correctly. But I really don’t need to know that she got up to get a drink of water. • Just one of my pet peeves, but the term “to my dismay” was used a lot. I wish this phrase would just get thrown out of the English language. So basically with no conflict and no character flaws, it’s like this: Imagine walking by a construction site and watching the builders construct a new home. You sit and watch for a while, but after a few minutes, you get bored and move on. Unless…one of them bangs their thumb with a hammer and starts throwing a fit and before you know it, he has stumbled and is now hanging precariously off the ledge of the roof. Are we still watching? Yes, and biting our fingernails waiting to see what happens. These elements are of paramount importance in a novel and I HAVE to have them if I am going to keep reading. What I did love: • Music plays a role in this novel and when there would be mention of a specific song, I would get into my iTunes account and put the song on while reading the scene in the book. This dramatically increased my enjoyment of the book. There is one scene where Chris is in a bar singing a Linken Park song and when I put the music in my headphones and read the scene, I felt like I was there. It was the first time I felt attached to the love interest and I knew why Tess was so in awe of him, finally. Another song, Drop in the Ocean – had the same effect on me. It would have been cool to see a music section in the back of the book to see ALL of the music that inspired Chaysing Dreams. • The cover is beautiful. • Strangely (since I don’t even read erotica type books) I thought the sex scenes were probably some of the best in the whole book. I was quite surprised by them, but I thought they actually added to the story. • The premise for this story is interesting. I hope the author is able to answer more questions in the next installment. The possibilities are endless. End Notes Mary Sue (According to Wikipedia): "Mary Sue" today has changed from its original meaning and now carries a generalized, although not universal, connotation of wish-fulfillment and is commonly associated with self-insertion. True self-insertion is a literal and generally undisguised representation of the author; most characters described as "Mary Sues" are not, though they are often called "proxies"[6] for the author. The negative connotation comes from this "wish-fulfillment" implication: the "Mary Sue" is judged a poorly developed character, too perfect and lacking in realism to be interesting.”

I loved reading this book; there was not a moment that I wasn’t intrigued. Right from the start Williby sparks your interest with a “dream.” And not just any dream the same dream young Tess has had since she can remember… This story is about the life of a 15 year old high-school student named Tessnia. She is a very bright young lady and very athletic. Her innocence screams off the pages. She has a goal for her life and everything is going according to plan. Tess has suffered from nightmares since she was a child. These dreams obviously hold some sort of meaning but they are brushed off because she doesn’t understand it. She continues on with her life and it seems that everything is plain ole ordinary. She has two amazing supportive parents and two amazing best-friends Jack and Kylie. She gets to go to her top pick college and is happy to start a new chapter in her life. You can’t help but envy her life, it appears that perfect. Ahhh but “nothing is as it seems” because Tessnia is anything but ordinary and her life is about to change drastically. It is apparent that there are things going on with Tess that even she is unaware of. And it all starts with a man named Chris. Chasying Dreams was yet another emotional roller-coaster filled with suspense, grief and love and anticipation. Tess meets Chris and there is an instant connection between them. This has only ever happened one time before and Tess finds herself captivated by him. I imagine Chris to look something like Chris Evans! Total hotness! ;) He is mysterious, stand offish and extremely overprotected. He’s the type of guy you should run away from but feel the need to indulge yourself with! Chris gave me the feeling that of a tortured soul. He doesn’t think he deserves what he wants most in life. Oh and I can’t forget Gem what a precious dog! Such an awesome supporting character! :) I fell in love with the three of them. Tess finds herself deep into a world that will only lead to dread and as I turned each page I got the feeling I was missing something. We are given enough information to warrant only more questions, never any complete answers and I think Williby wrote it well. As a reader I felt all of Tessnia’s emotions happiness, regret, betrayal, grief, lack of understanding and most of all love. Overall I loved it and I can’t wait to read book 2 because as I mentioned above I was left with so many unanswered questions, can you say cliffhanger! I highly recommend this book to all you romance lovers out there. http://entirelybooks.wordpress.com

Life is perfect for Tessnia and she breezes through it. Her parents are supportive and school is a showcase for her straight A's and fantastic athletic ability. The only cloud on her otherwise pin-straight horizon is the strange recurring dream that leaves her quaking in terror, but with her best friends Kylie and Jack at her side, life is a content and orderly adventure. When Tess starts University, she expects no less than the best, but when Chris meets her on the track, she soon learns that there is much more to life than her sheltered past has exposed her to. There is an instant connection between the two, and some conflict too as Chris teaches and challenges Tess to reach her full potential, which is far greater than even she could ever have imagined. But Chris' life may not be as perfect as Tess's and she soon finds out that the secrets he harbors may put them both in mortal danger. Williby has a very short and effective writing style; there are no long sentences or weighty adverbs and adjectives. It lends the story a straight forward, almost diary type of feel that is refreshing. She manages to portray deep emotion without too much introspection and the gradual maturing of her characters over the extended time period is realistic and full-bodied. It's hard to put this novel into any one particular genre, because it spans such a long time period in Tess's life, and there's so much in it. There's mystery, love, sex, a touch of paranormal and contemporary, young adult and adult content. There were some really minor grammatical and tense errors, as well as some repetition and some telling instead of showing early on, but once I got deeper into the story, I understood the reason behind this and was swept away in the story. The extended timespan just adds so much more to the perceived perfection of Tess's life and reinforces the 'shock' factor of the 'not-so-perfect' happenings. The premise is an intriguing one, although I feel that more information is necessary, which means that Williby has done her job well and given me a good reason to buy the sequel. The action and the sex scenes were tastefully done, the story was beautifully paced and the characters were endearing. Put this one on your reading list - and while you're at it, just add the sequels too because this author has such a unique and entertaining writing style.

“Chaysing Dreams” by Jalpa Williby is a fantastic debut novel. It combines romance, adventure, a coming-of-age tale and a touch of science fiction into one well-written and engaging package. She gets straight A’s, stars on the basketball team and the track team and volunteers at a facility for handicapped children in her free time. She gets straight A’s, stars on the basketball team and the track team and volunteers at a facility for handicapped children in her free time. She’s looking forward to college and eventually following in her parents’ footsteps and becoming a doctor. It looks like her life is set on a straight path. But there are hints that all is not as it seems. She has strange, recurring dreams. An encounter with a charismatic older man while volunteering throws Tess off balance when she’s powerfully and unexplainably drawn to him. The same feelings pop up again in college, when she meets the assistant trainer on the school’s track team. At the same time, there are signs that Tess herself isn’t exactly what she seems – questions her parents don’t quite answer, things that her new assistant trainer says, the behavior of the pet dog Tess is given as a graduation gift, among others. The author skillfully brings everything together in a conclusion that’s satisfying but also sets up very nicely for a sequel. The characters, especially Tess, are well-drawn and believable. The book is told in the first person, from Tess’ point of view, and her voice is likeable and engaging. Tess is relatable, as she goes through all the ups and downs readers would expect of a young woman coming into adulthood. The supporting characters, including Tess’ best friend Kylie, her parents, and the mysterious trainer Chris, are equally well-handled, and I was left wanting more. All in all, this is a very good, very exciting novel, and I’d highly recommend it.

There is a little bit for everyone in this story; the romantic, the tough guy, the young girl next door, the young boy next door, moms/dads, pet lovers, the mentor, and the athlete. The book really has you guessing from the beginning until the end with all the surprises along the way! I couldn't put it down, and had to finish it right away. Then, when I was done, I needed more pages to read...I just didn't want it to end nor did I want to leave Tess! Remarkable.

Really cool premise for this, with lots (and LOTS) of possibilities, in terms of where she goes with the storyline from here. I really liked the character of "Joe" (don't want to say too much!) and found I couldn't put the book down, I so wanted to see where everything was going and the mystery of what was different about Tess, and who this person was in her life. As far as the criticisms of her being too "perfect," I think people need to read further. I actually wondered about that too, but then later, when more of the premise was explained, that aspect made sense too, and while in some ways it made her harder to relate too, it absolutely fit with the storyline, so zero complaints. All in all a really fun book to read...and yes, very much written as YA (even when the character is much older than that, although she starts out in the YA age range), but honestly, that didn't bother me, either. To me, the best test of a book is if I can't put it down...and this one passed that with flying colors! It's not a short book, but I read it in two sittings, even during a busy week, and actually stayed up too late at night to finish it (ha).

Engrossing. Miss Williby has created a fascinating story, a true page-turning, Romantic Thriller. The intrigue begins from the start and throughout the novel the reader can't escape the feeling that the proverbial Damocles's Sword will fall at any minute. I don't like spoilers so I will not include details, except to say Tessnia is a spunky, lovable heroine and the book is an action-packed, definite must-read. Well done. On to book 2.

And yes I know you are probably wondering why in the world I keep putting an exclamation point at the end of all my sentences but you will just have to keep wondering for a little bit longer! Like I was saying, this book started out a little young for my taste and I honestly didn't think I could hang with it and I vowed if it kept up like this I was just going to be done! As you can see I was able to hang in there and by 31% I was able to stick with it. I am kind of glad I did because I did for the most part enjoy this book!We meet Tess in the beginning at the young age of 15, she wants you to think she is just an average teenager just living her life. She engages in her studies and is very involved with sports, she even volunteers with autistic children. How could you not love her? Sadly, I didn't love her. She was way to perfect and I wanted to gag half the time. So besides her perfect priestliness, I did like her part of the time. She seemed to be strong and never let anything stand in her way. Until that fateful day she meets Joe, Chris and Chayse. Yes he is all the same guy. I can't tell you to ,much without giving this all away. He is your typical hottie nice bad boy that every girl is drawn to. And oh yes, he sings and plays acoustic, melt my heart. Let's just say these two are unique and no matter how much he tries to keep his distance he is always drawn back to her. Just when it seems that they may finally find a little bit of happiness, it is all of a sudden ripped away. A group of people want Chayse for what he is but they have no idea about Tess. He decides to make the ultimate trade, himself for her life. In doing this he will leave Tess for good and with no memory of him. Yeah I may have shed a few tears at this, yes I know I am such a girl. So she wakes up with no memory of him only to find out she has been missing for 3 weeks from her best friends. Yeah I had to wonder also, I mean didn't they think about this? I don't know maybe he was guaranteeing on this to maybe help jog her memory? There was also something that happened when they were together that Tess can never get back, so how did she not realize something that major had changed? Hmmm, kind of weird. Oh i almost forget that they both seem to have nightmares that they don't realize invovles one another and seem to tell a little bit of the future. In the beginning this story moved so quick and skipped through so much time that it got a little confusing at times. I just wanted it to slow down and take a breath for a minute, maybe smell a rose or two lol. Oh lord and the exclamation points, yeeshe! There were just so many of them, I mean it seemed like there were 20+ per page for a while there. I am telling you, these were some very excited people. Drove. Me. Nuts. Besides the rushy rushy at the beginning and everybody being overly excited throughout the book, it really was a decent story. I hated that I never really knew what was going on. I had a million and one questions and yes some of them got answered but definitely not all of them. And that is one of the main reasons I hung on, I just had to know what happened. And I now just realized that I have no idea when the next book will be out, someone please get this author on the phone because we need to have a very serious conversation. Overall, I ended up liking Tess and Chayse, I mean come on the man sang and played acoustic! Sigh. The story started out slow and young but when it picked up, you just hung on for the ride. It was full of adventure, action, excitement, passion, mystery, questions, heartache and loss. So much packed into one book and thankfully the book never seemed to be weighed down by it. So if you are looking for a story that is going to have you constantly wondering, WHERE THE, WHY THE and WHAT THE HELL? Grab this one up and quick. I am now going to sit here patiently for the next book. Hint, hint, wink, wink!My song for this book: Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift ft The Civil Wars

"Chaysing Dreams" could have been a lot shorter since most of it seemed to be filler for me instead of plot points that would actually move the story along. We first meet our main character, Tess, when she is 15 and by the end of the book, she's graduated college and is in her 20s. That's a lot of time to cover and it could have been condensed. A lot of the scenes seemed like they were just the same thing repeated with slight variations, and could have been cut. There are moments of greatness here, and if the filler was all gone, things would have flowed a lot better. At first, Tess herself seemed too perfect of a character to be believable at times. She was beautiful, excelled at school without trying, good at sports, and was even able to win at roulette (I mean, who can do that consistently?). Initially, I was rolling my eyes at it, but after a while, I knew that there was going to be an explanation for this phenomenon. While Williby did eventually provide an answer, it should have been explained earlier than it was. Instead of an ‘ah ha!’ moment, it was just kind of dropped on the reader without too much back up or story revolving around it. Instead, most of the story revolved around Tess's love life. While at college, she meets this guy Chris, who is helping out her track coach and immediately feels drawn to him. Any reader knows that that ‘Immediate Connection’ is going to lead to something, and it does. I wasn't the biggest fan of Chris. He alternates from being emotionally distant to screaming at her when she goes to visit her friend at another college, and it just seemed to border on emotional abuse. I wish there could have been a bit more build up between the two instead of the instant connection that Tess feels so that they'd seem more organic of a couple. This is the first book in a series, and I can see that. There was a lot of set up that Williby did in order to get the reader all the information they need about Tess and her friends, and about what makes her different. I might wish that some of the middle of the book was cut in order to get to things sooner, but the action did pick up toward the end of the book. Once the setup was there, Williby raised the stakes on the story and was able to get me interested. It was a slow start, but I'm confident that book two in this series will be better. We no longer need all of the background filler of Tess growing up, so the next book can start right where this one left off (with a bit of a cliffhanger, no less), and continue with the momentum that started towards the end of "Chaysing Dreams.”

What we carefully plan for our life is sometimes dismantled thread by thread until we are facing that which we have carefully ignored and hidden away. Fate is a cruel master, but a sweet friend. Choose thoughtfully and wisely the path you follow and always trust your instincts. Tess is considered an above average student, a very talented athlete, and a wonderful daughter and friend. While things in her life like school and sports seem to come easy for her, the only problem that she has is a reoccurring nightmare that she just can’t shake. In her dream she is running away from an unknown evil that is relentlessly pursuing her. She doesn’t understand what the dream means, but she can never forget the terror that it instills in her heart. As time passes, she comes across another confusing bump in her otherwise perfect life. His name is Chris. She is drawn to him in a way that she can’t explain, and no matter how hard she tries to get to know him, he continually draws her in only to push her away. Her disappointment simmers until she can take no more, and the explosion that follows will change her world forever. I very much enjoyed discovering the characters with the pages of this book. Each of them brought a special piece to the amazing mosaic that took shape before my eyes. Of all of the characters, Tess really touched me the most. I found her to be a very believable and beautiful character. It’s very easy to identify with her throughout her journey. She longs to live a full life, and in her mind that means meeting and exceeding all of her goals. She doesn’t factor love into her plans, and as a result, her world is turned upside down when love makes its grand entrance and begins to show her what she is missing out on. The chaos that Chris brings with him sends her mind into a wild frenzy, but once she is able to understand and accept her feelings toward him as genuine, she is then free to return his love. What she receives in return will transform her life and shape her into the extraordinary person that she was always meant to be. The pace was a little slow in the beginning, but once it picked up, there was no stopping it. The suspense and mystery that surrounds Chris and Tess will pull you in as you fall under their spell of heartache and strength. You will want to learn all of their secrets, but the truth always comes with danger as these secrets were never meant to see the light of day. I very much enjoyed reading this story, and I look forward to the next book in this trilogy.

Great grades, awesome parents and friends that love her. At sixteen she meets the mysterious Joe and the two are attracted to one another. They don't see each other again or so she thinks. Soon Tess is off to Stanford and meets Chris. He trains her in track and is secretly in love with her. He is protective of her and only wants her to be happy without any complications. One night Tess does something stupid and he saves her. From here it goes to pot and Chris leaves so he can protect her. Years later tragedy hits her life and she feels she can't go on. At this point Chris comes back and he is now Chayse. they grow close and she finds out his secret and that they are alike in their unique gifts. At the same time they figure out they are soul mates (with some amazing intimate scenes) they are found well Chayse is found and they are caught. He does what he can to protect her and she is home with no memory. So sad. Tess to me was a little sheltered and too perfect. Chris/Joe/Chayse was flawed and wonderful to see. As Tess grew she softened and you began to like her and she even wigges herself in your heart. Not as much as chayse and Jack though. Jack is Tess's best male friend and has a crush on her. He's sweet and kind and patient. Takes tender care of her when tragedy hits her world. Chayse is the same with her but it is different because they challenge each other and love each other fiercely. the only meh I have is it took a little bit to warm up to the book. Not because it wasn't good because it is but because the writing lulled in the beginning. Once you got from her perfect world and to Stanford where you got to see real emotion in tess and real reactions it picked up and you began to like Tess and fall in love with Chayse and get engrossed in this tale of love and sacrifice. A good book that shows how one sacrifices for love and will do anything to protect and make sure their soul mate is happy. A interesting twist about who Tess and Chayse are and the end with Mr. Sterns leaves you hanging. So does the way Chayse and Tess leave one another and the pulling out of the letter and the picture with her wanting to know what is going on. Also it tears my heart to see her dog Gem sad over losing Chayse. A good mystery adventure love story for new adult.

What I like about the author is the cleverly use of quotes that intrigued me. There is this quote/sentence that clearly what Tess, the main character is facing. Here goes, "I'll give you that, Tess. You were never a quitter." This tells me that Tess is a person that never gives up, determined and confident. To many, this is an ordinary quote, but to me, I felt that Tess is very much like my friend's character. Good work. This novel is a romantic suspense that surrounds a group of young school-going teenagers. It has a modern-day, present setting with various school scenes. The main character is Tess. She is a teenager with big brown almond-shaped eyes, thick eyelashes, thick lips and curly black hair. To many young boys, she is the perfect girl that most wants to date. She's is smart, confident with some good friends with her. She's a sports person with a great family. Honestly, the author has painted a near perfect character that I want to meet up. Too bad, this will only happen in the fiction world. Sigh... However, there is this recurring dream that haunts her every night. Not to be a spoiler, I would encourage you to read this YA romantic suspense novel as the plot build upon itself towards the end. You will not regret to spend one whole afternoon to complete it, just like me. What I like most of this story is that starting of a nightmare description and how Tess faces it. There are certain moments that I hold my breath as events unfold itself as they are doing nasty things towards Tess and his friends. The book has enough twists and turns that keep me to my edge of my chair. The author has achieved this and had just made a fan out of me. This book is open to all ages, most young adults, and new adult. If you are into chick lit, women's fiction, romance, and suspense. I bet you will like this piece of art. The novel is very entertaining throughout the end. Also, I like the cover art of this book. A single girl image in the wilderness seems searching for an answer. If there's one thing I'd change about this book, I hope to see more clarity and direction of this novel. The characters are all too perfect. I hope the author to inject some flaws on the characters to make it more balanced. Too perfect for me, though. The book has good formatting and layout. The author drove the line with an interaction between two people that was obviously fated. Neither could escape the other and you don't want them to either. This is the kind of story that you feel. Jalpa writes so you feel the emotions, the sensations and the physical pain as clear in your mind as if you were truly there. Unfortunately and maybe it is due to the age the character spans, but there are some moments that make you say, really? You know, the 'she isn't really that dumb' thoughts. Again, I can only assume the author was portraying the main character's age so in the sequel, we should be past those moments since she matures. I know it makes the character more real to not know it all, and make mistakes, but these moments went a little too far for me. I must stress though, it did not take away from the story as a whole, I loved it, and would actually read it again. Few other books do I say that about. The steamy love scenes were just that. I felt Jalpa wrote them very well. This is not always an easy task, but she has it down. The immaturity of the main character Tess though, due to her age, inexperience and other things you'll find out, did at times take some of the steam out. But alas, it was easily ignored when the fires were that hot. If you like romance and love scenes, then you will certainly like these. So many times romance stories can be really dull. The actual story is nothing to care about, wonder about or even remember. Hopefully for those ones you had great love scenes to read. This one is different. You find yourself wondering a lot about what was really going on, and what was going to happen. What does this or that mean in the scheme of things? When a love story can keep you entertained beyond the love scenes, then the author is going their job. Jalpa certainly did her job in both writing, storyline, character development, intrigue, romance and everything in-between. After I had finished this book I found out the sequel was just released. I quickly purchase it because I have to find out what happens next, as soon as possible. I really am excited and anxious to read it. This story was very entertaining and the characters memorable. Actually envisioning would be a better word, at least the male one, for me, if you know what I mean. It had more depth than many other romances and kept the fires burning even after the scene was done. If you enjoy romance novels, you will absolutely love this one.

She's beautiful, plays varsity basketball, has the perfect parents and family life, never gets into trouble, is her school valedictorian and has gorgeous guys fighting for her attention... just about the time I was thinking things are just too perfect...BAM. It was like a roller coaster ride when you are going up that first steep hill and you can see for miles everywhere, the entire city is beautiful, the trees, the sky, yet with every click, the anticipation builds because you know something big is coming. In Chaysing Dreams, we follow Tess through a "coming of age" tale from the time she is 15 until after she graduates from college. We feel her joy from her early successes and her tremendous pain through the tragedies to come. There's something different about her, but even she doesn't know what it is. Tess has recurring nightmares and can feel something coming, and the dark cloud she begins to see lets her know for certain. Then, on her 16th birthday, she meets a "special" friend who is always there for her even when she doesn't know it. She learns that she loves him over the years, but the mystery that draws her to him will never let them be together for long. There will be only one way to save her...and Tess isn't going to like it. Originality: I thought Ms. Williby did a wonderful job bringing creativity and originality to romance. Chaysing Dreams is far more than a Saturday at the beach romance novel. She has sprinkled the romance with intense suspense, action, emotional battles of what's right and wrong and even has a small dash of something science fiction. Characters: I thought the characters were well developed and I enjoyed watching Tess turn from the naive teenager that only knew silver linings to the confident fighter that would do anything to save the man she loves. Of course I loved the spark in her heart, who we'll just call "Joe"... even though I wanted to hunt him down at times, at the end, I loved him. I thought the friendship between Tess and Kylie and Jack was real and sincere and I enjoyed making the trip through time with them. Recommendation: Break out a good Cab-Silver Oak is my favorite-for this one. Plenty of steam to go along with the rest of the thrill ride. I highly recommend Chaysing Dreams to anyone who loves a great romance adventure and can't wait to read the sequel - Chaysing Memories. -Ginger Ginger Gelsheimer

There's a hint of the paranormal here, but it's so sidelined that it almost doesn't bear noting. I bounced between a two and three rating and finally settled on a two. I did finish the book-it is wonderfully written-but the story did not grab me. I could not engage with the main character. She doesn't do anything to engage with. I kept waiting for the dreams and the sense of foreboding to kick something off, and they don't. Nothing happens until the end of the book and that's all about this guy she's fallen for - after he's drugged and kidnapped her no less. Of course, as nothing bad really happens to this character, it turns out being kidnapped was for her own good - and wasn't he the sweetest guy ever for taking a risk like that just to see her again. The whole kidnapping thing, and the other questionable actions of the boyfriend, does come with an explanation/rationalization. The explanation asks the reader to believe that while this bad group of people are able to identify the hidden genetic advantage of a random boy who's spent most of his life hiding his special talents, they've failed to notice the daughter of one of the scientists working in the very field of genetic interest involved alongside their competition. At the end is where you find out why everything is so easy for Tess, and you also realize that she could have been doing so much more, that there are boundaries she could have been testing and simply didn't. This girl was milk toast on a Monday, doing everything good little girls do, and nothing they don't, like developing a sense of independence. After chapters of being lulled by one of the most boring characters ever, the twist near the end made me sit up and take notice. The second book of this series looks like it might actually be what possibly should have been the beginning of this book. It sounds much more promising in my opinion. So while I wasn't especially crazy about this book, I may still pick up the next one. Secret agencies, plots, unrevealed talents - that is right up my alley.

This is a romance story, yes, but romance with super helpings of mystery and creativity. It is an extraordinary tour de force that pushes the reader’s every emotional button. Such is Williby’s empathy with her main character’s heartaches and joys, that the reader in turn lives through every painful, every tortured, every joyous moment as though it were herself that was living this crazy whirlwind of a life. The principal character, Tessnia, or Tess, lives an apparently normal, if successful, life at school. But her nights are plagued by nightmares of someone being chased. Black clouds occasionally cross her vision during the day. She experiences almost mystical connections with Joe, with Chris, with Thunder and even with her dog, Gem. What is happening here? Jalpa Williby expertly weaves these inexplicable events into her story, whetting our appetite for explanation, teasing our expectations, forcing us to surge through the pages as we search hungrily for answers. Even from the very early stages we cannot help but try to formulate our own explanations. We wonder if Tess has some psychic or even supernatural powers. Has she? We wonder if there might be some kind of psychic connection between Joe and Chris. Is there? We even wonder if it might be possible that Joe and Chris are cosmic guardians designated to keep Tess safe from some other-worldly threat. Are they? This is how it is with Jalpa’s writing. The brain goes into high gear and the pages continue to fly… …and two destined souls meet, entwine and conjoin in the most lyrical of settings. Days pass in impossible bliss and suddenly the two are thrust into a harsh and furious chase, hurtling towards the story’s end, an end that is plausible, an end that is logical, an end that is, perhaps, inevitable. Oh, Chayse warns us so often that this is an ending we must expect. And it works….for Tessnia! But aaahh! – and what a sigh is there – my heart groans for Chayse. A stunning and wonderful book and a must read for lovers of the romance genre.

I just knew there was more of that to come and I wasn't disappointed. I'll have to be just a bit vague here so as not to give away any spoilers. The story itself is fantastic and the characters are great as well. Tess's character is very well developed, and so are the other secondary characters. There is a lot to Tess, and watching her character grow kept me very interested. And I have to say, I absolutely loved Jack and wish we had seen more of him in the book. The writing itself is outstanding, and that alone kept me turning the page. I have to say, though, I expected a little more suspense. At times it felt more like a straight romance novel. There were hints that something big would happen, but it took a long time to get there, and after half a book of these small hints, the suspense effect wore off to the point that I no longer expected something to happen. I hate even saying that because the book is wonderfully written with amazing characters and I literally couldn't stop turning the page once I started reading. I just wish there had been a bit more suspense throughout or that the action had started a bit sooner, since it is a romantic suspense novel and there were foreshadows of something big happening. BUT... This doesn't take away from the amazing quality of this book. Ms. Williby is a fantastic writer who deserves a lot of attention. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels. The suspense does happen, but as long as you don't go into it expecting a big bang until the end and you'll be fine. The hook at the end did leave me wanting to read the next novel.

As the reader watches Tess grow up they get to witness key moments that will change her life forever. The 'normal' Tess thought she knew isn't so normal after all. The author's writing was great! Her story development was spot on. She efficiently brought the characters to life. The dialogue among the characters was smooth and realistic. The one element of a novel I always take notice of is the authors use of words and their descriptions. Sometimes this can make or break a book for me. Jalpa nailed it for me with lines like, "The sky is the color of a robin's egg with tufts of small, white clouds on the horizon." Perfection! Also, I enjoyed the soundtrack of this novel. It brought the story to life and added a few new favorite songs to my iPod. I am Jalpa Williby's newest fan and I hope after reading Chaysing Dreams you will be too. Look for Chaysing Dreams on Amazon.com and also be on the look out for the next book in this trilogy. Happy Reading!! Swooning Over Books

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to keep this review short and sweet. I can't really go into too much detail about this book due to the fact that I can't describe the storyline without revealing its mystery. This is just one if those stories that you'll have to experience for yourself. I must admit, when I first began reading Chaysing Dreams I almost wanted to give up. However, something kept pushing me to give it a chance and see where it takes me. Luckily I listened to that pesky little voice because I was rewarded with a really interesting story in the end. I encourage readers to give this an honest chance because although it starts off slow and slightly annoying for lack of a better word, everything makes sense as the story develops. When I first met Tess, my first impression was that she was extremely naive and not someone I'd get along with in real life. She is 15 at the beginning of the story and her whole demeanor and perception of life is that of someone who has been fed with a silver spoon and has never had to endure any sort of suffering. Everything comes easily to her and she's never had to work at anything she has achieved in her short life. She has the picture perfect, loving family and has always excelled both academically and athletically. Her overly happy and positive attitude seemed too fake at first and I often found myself rolling my eyes while reading. However, like I said, for some strange reason I had to give her the benefit of the doubt and continued to follow her through her journey to adulthood. As the story progressed, I found myself glued to the story and wanting to find the answers behind the unique situations that came to light. I know this is really vague, but trust me when I say that it will all make sense in the end. The writing will eventually mature along with Tess and the characters are constantly being developed. Give it a chance, I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

This story caught my interest right from the beginning. Tess is a smart, lovable high school student who has a passion for life. She is the only daughter of two respectable, kind, and loving parents. I became suspicious because Tess seemed to be too perfect in a perfect life. I knew that, sooner or later, something horrible was bound to happen, and I was not let down. When the "black cloud" enters into the story, I wanted to keep reading to find out what was causing this strange thing to happen. This story caught my interest right from the beginning. When the "black cloud" enters into the story, I wanted to keep reading to find out what was causing this strange thing to happen. So I kept turning the pages to find out. Even though Tess does not have the "black cloud" diagnosed in the beginning, I saw that this story is a love story where Tess explores her feelings and searches for true love. With several elements of a psychological thriller in the plot to keep the mystery moving forward, I could feel that Tess was confused about her dreams, suddenly being woken up by them. She began to consider a man she hardly knew. Tess has many choices to make, but some situations are beyond her control. She struggles with anxiety, lust, anger, and the meaning of life in college. Sex scenes are tender and explicit. One rape scene feels aggressive, which could be an eye-opener for ignorant girls. The ending has more descriptive sexual acts and a classic hunt down. I liked how genetics eventually played a big part in the story. A human-machine philosophy and military intelligence weave into the story. I had to find out what was going to happen to Tess, her love life, and her adorable Gem. For ages 18 and up. Jalpa Williby presents a story using excellent structure and pacing. She unfolds the story intelligently, with detail and affection. Williby knows how to build suspension and keep the reader engaged. She brought the loose ends together for a creative surprise ending.

Tessnia Sanoby may come off as just your average high school girl as Chaysing Dreams by Jalpa Williby gets going, but it soon becomes clear that there is far more going on inside of Tess than even she knows. There have been quite a few YA fantasy novels to hit the shelves in the last several years, and I’ll admit to opening this one with a bit of a jaded mind. I had hopes that Ms. Williby had brought something new to the genre, but they were not high. As I slowly got sucked into Tess’s life and the life of her friends, her family, and even her dog, I was very pleasantly surprised. This book is familiar enough to be an easy read, and different enough that it kept me guessing. Page one of Chaysing Dreams by Jalpa Williby dropped me straight into a nightmare. The shock of that was a nice entry into Tessnia Sanoby’s world. The only problem Tess has with having an extraordinary life is that she has no clue that her life is anything but slightly-better-than average, even when it is obvious that most everyone around her is in on the secret. The juxtaposition of the incredible with the every day is beautifully done; Ms. Williby definitely knows her stuff. Intrigue? Definitely. Mystery? More than I expected. Just another tweaked version of vampires, werewolves, and dragons? Absolutely not. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will be waiting impatiently for the next installment.

Right off the bat, Chaysing Dreams has your wheels turning. The beginning of the book sets the tone for what is a roller coaster ride of a book. I found the story to be engaging and exciting. Although Tessnia is pretty much perfect in every way, I found the emotional side of this character very easy to relate to. I was on the edge of my seat during some of the scenes and trying so hard to figure out what was going on in others. I loved the author's writing, including the rarely used, in-the-moment, first person, present tense style. I admire the author for having the courage to write a little different from the norm for this genre and she pulled it off very well. The growth of our main character, Tess, is also something that I really enjoyed about this book. We get to see her grow from a teenager into her young adult years. The challenges she faces, although this is a "paranormal" book, are real and really do tug at your emotions. There were moments in this book where I laughed, moments when I cried, and moments where I thought my heart would beat out of my chest. The romantic scenes were some of my favorite in the book because there was so much tension and love involved. I am very excited to read the second book by Williby. I'm looking forward to unraveling the mysteries of this well written story.

But inside, dreams about a desperate chase in the woods accompanied by a mysterious man have haunted her for years. Tess shrugs off the bad dreams and lives her lucky life until a handsome young man holds her breathless during a song. A second alluring and mysterious man becomes her track trainer at college, but leaves abruptly and breaks her heart. The third man reveals that all three have been him in disguise. She learns that his fate entwines with Tess’s and culminates in her nightmare becoming a real panic-filled run through the woods. Chaysing Dreams is a well-told first person story about Tess. It brims with descriptions of a teen’s world. Tess has a refreshing emotional maturity that is usually lacking in YA stories. She is intelligent like her parents, and the story balances it with a teenage girl’s descriptions of clothes and makeup. But this is a YA novel after all, so Tess makes some blunders that land her in big trouble. The story’s climax was excellent, as were the romantic scenes. The story gives Tess a yummy boyfriend, and the reoccurring dreams flowed into a satisfactory conclusion. YA fans looking for a sophisticated heroine would enjoy Chaysing Dreams.
