I had the pleasure of being a beta reader for this book, and I have to admit, I was a bit nervous going in. Debut novels can be ... well, let's just say that everyone has to start someplace, and not everyone starts well. It's completely understandable though. That first book gives you the chances to make your mistakes and grow as an author. I rarely fully judge an author just by their debut for this exact reason. Reading this book, I was completely shocked. This book does *not* read like a debut novel. This book reads as if she's been chilling out in Amazon "Top Ten" for years. I'm flabbergasted at how much I loved this book. In fact, I hate to admit this because I'm really not an emotional kind of gal, but this author brought tears to my eyes. There were scenes that were just so beautiful that I literally cried for the characters. I absolutely loved Christina. Not only is she an amazingly sweet demon that is fighting against her very own nature, but she's totally spunky. For me, the quirks of a character are what really makes them the easiest to relate to, and I quickly bonded with this smart-mouthed gal. The rest of the characters are equally developed, which I have found to be rare in most cases with debut books. I'm so pleased that the author didn't just focus on the hero and heroine, and made the entire cast quirky and easy to love. Now, when I first read about Christina's soul mate, the way that it was brought into play was a bit odd for me. (I'm trying hard to not have spoilers, btw, so this may not make the most sense if you've not read the book.) I was worried that the information given right off the bat would really detract from the love story. Even after reading the entire book (and rereading parts of the love story, it was too sweet!) I still have no clue how the author pulled it off. Even though you know things quickly in, it's still a complete adventure. I can't say enough good things about this book, and I fear if I say much more, I'll just be completely fangirling. Seriously, don't let the fact that this is a debut book fool you. This author DEFINITELY knows what she's doing, and I look forward to her next book with baited breath. Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book for honest review.

Only Half-Alive was one of those rare books that was so good, the reader MUST stay up until the book was finished. It was excellent. The author has a bold, vivid imagination that brings tales to life.

Wow. You would never believe this was a debut novel. While it started off on a slow note, it just picked up momentum rapidly and didn't even stop. The only noteworthy issues were some spelling and grammar mistakes and the final fight with Mr. Duke was very short and the descriptions left a lot to the imagination. First off can I give this book more then 5 stars??? Anyone?? This was a wonderful debut book. I wanted to read this book when I first heard of it. And Omg so glad I got the chance to read it. Christina was the only demon left. But not an evil one. She didn't want to be evil. I think she just wanted to be normal and live a normal life. I love unicorns. But in this book they were evil. I say evil :( still want one though. Konstanz Silverbow well done hun. And i can't wait to read more of your work First off can I give this book more then 5 stars??? Anyone?? The cover first attracted me to this book! I mean look at it! It is stunning! I then read the synopsis and it doesn't really give a lot away about what happens in the book, but in a way it does as well! It doesn't give away a teaser, but it explains the book in such a short way! I liked this book and I enjoyed it, but I didn't love, love this book! I did have a few problems with it as well! The plot of this book starts right away! I liked that, but then I did find it a little confusing as well! The cover first attracted me to this book! I mean look at it! It is stunning! The plot of this book starts right away! I liked that, but then I did find it a little confusing as well! It took me a few chapters to start being able to actually follow what was happening, but I did enjoy it! The plot was pretty unique as I haven't really read anything like it before! The author added a really nice twist to the whole demon aspect to make this book different and stand out! The plot did impress me, but I did have a slight problem with it as well! There were some sentences in it that could have been written better in my opinion! There were a few sentences I felt like that about, but not too many and it didn't occur throughout the full book, which I loved! The characters were awesome! Christina was the main character and all she wanted was to be normal! She was something that she didn't want to be, but she had to live with it! Or did she? ;) I loved Christina because she was so kick-ass! She was so determined to protect the people she cared about that she would do anything and I loved that about her! I also loved Christina because she was such a genuine person and she was so normal! Even though she didn't think so! I loved her courage and determination as well! Riley was the love interest of Christina, but he wasn't in this book a lot too be honest! When Riley was in the book I loved him! I did think that he accepted Christina's world a little too easily, but I guess that everyone reacts differently to different situations! Riley was such a sweetheart! I loved his relationship development with Christina There was potential for a love triangle in this book between Christina, Riley and someone else who plays quite an important role in this book, Finn! I would have loved this book to have had a love triangle in it, but in a way I'm really glad it didn't! There was so much going on in the book already that a love triangle would have been too much! I'm not sure if there is going to be another book to this one, but I don't think there will be! This book was fully resolved and everything, but I still wouldn't mind another book to see Christina and Riley's relationship develop more! The ending also left this book open to another one! As I said, the cover for this book is stunning! It really suits the book and it so eye-catching! Big thank you to Konstanz for a copy of Only Half Alive and to Amber for having me on the Blog Tour!

What to say first? Well, first off, I love this book! It was brilliant and captivating! From the start, I've been a fan of the author. She is not only a kind person, but a excellent writer. When she dreams, she dreams far and beyond. She has the heart and ambition to go far and I believe she has a bestseller on her hands. This book begins introducing us to the main character of this book, Christina. Christina is the only demon left on earth but, despite being a demon, she isn't evil. Actually, s What to say first? When she dreams, she dreams far and beyond. She has the heart and ambition to go far and I believe she has a bestseller on her hands. This book begins introducing us to the main character of this book, Christina. Christina is the only demon left on earth but, despite being a demon, she isn't evil. Actually, she doesn't even want to be a demon. She hates what she is and wishes she can be normal and have the life normal people have. To have a boyfriend. To be kissed and hugged by someone she loves, who loves her back. To put it simply, she desires to be a human. She craves light, rather than darkness. Love, rather than hate. Overtime, with the help of her new friend Finn, Christina will learn that there is more to herself then meets the eye. And that, sometimes being different, is not always a bad thing. Along the way, she might even find love. Someone who will love her for her, and not care what, or who she is. This is an amazing book!! I loved the characters and I seriously loved the plot and the unique twists and turns in the book. It was a real page turner. I was lost in this book for hours! I can't wait to read more from the author! I really recommend this book to everyone! It's amazing! *Note to self: Stay the heck away from Unicorns!! They're creepy and evil!* Some of my favorite quotes: "I can’t help but watch, longing for that kind of love. To feel someone else’s lips against mine. To feel the power in a kiss. To know that I am wanted. To love and be loved. Emotions course through me, feelings I didn’t know existed. One of them I know well: jealousy. That is a feeling that is familiar to me. My heart aches every time I feel that stab of longing." "“You’re a vampire with a broken nose and broken teeth for the rest of all eternity. You have to admit, it’s kinda funny. And really, you should’ve just shown your face instead of attempting to be mysterious. Because look where that got you.” "The hardest part is watching you fall in love with someone else."

This is a DNF for me. Amateur writing, very lackluster characters, although it started off with some promise. Honestly, I have the Kindle version from years ago. I'm unsurprised to find this one unavailable now. While the story idea has promise, it's... Weird. I stopped after it's revealed 'Thug Boy' is her soul mate. Heck, the fact Finn decided that's what she needed to do to save herself was kind of childish to begin with. Young adult books can be excellent, but just not this one.

I really enjoyed this. The writing was good. The story was even better. The characters are lovable. Christina is incredibly relatable. We all have a hint of dark [demon] inside of us which we try to hide. And we all are looking for that one person who will love us in spite of that. Looking forward to continuing the story!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I loved the beginning of this story. It had a delightfully dark gothic flavor to it as we were introduced to Christina and followed her as she met with her mysterious boss and was sent on a mission to steal an important necklace. I loved her first meeting with Finn as she broke his teeth. He was everything I could hope for in a book boyfriend (even with being a vampire which I have gotten to overload point on) with his blond hair, good looks, humor, ironic archness, and then the book took a turn I loved the beginning of this story. Other than being clingy and driven to do everything for him and spend every waking minute with him, she doesn’t seem actually in love with him. There was the preposterous gifting the guy with a mansion (why didn’t she gift Finn with a new one since she was the main cause of his being burned down), to I kept wondering where Mister’s goons were because they were supposed to be set on dispatching her and getting the necklace back, but it was like the necklace got completely forgotten by the author once Christina met her soulmate. It seemed like it should have been easy for the goons to follow her or at least to find her friends since after trashing Finn’s place they could have easily found his girlfriend and traced her there or Mister could have used the shadows to find Christina, but instead, most of the book is spent in dialogue as Christina whines, moans, complains, and cries (granted she’s teenager and over-the-top drama, but that seemed too over the top for even a teenager) about wanting to spend all of her time with her bland soulmate (which she actually refers to as a thug initially) and how she can’t tell him what she is and why they’re meant to be, and about hating the dark monster within her (which we never see any hint of other than her ability to control shadows and beating up goons when she’s threatened). Not to mention she totally uses Finn the entire way through, without paying him back in any way or even being all that nice to him as if he just wasn’t that important even as a friend. For all the talking going on in this story, it was hilarious that Christina couldn’t actually talk to her guy all that well.

First and foremost, I applaud Konstanz Silverbow for following her dream and writing a book. I think this book is classified as paranormal young adult fiction. While the book certainly has a lot of paranormal elements, I personally feel it was more of a romance—albeit a young adult one. The book is written in first person, present tense which adds to the immediacy and intimacy of the main character. Christina is a seventeen-year-old girl, sort of. She is a demon, sort of. I’d explain what I mean but “sort of,” but I don’t want to ruin it. The important thing is that the narration of the book is seen through her eyes. Because of this, we spend a lot, and I mean a lot, of time on her feelings and how she is reacting to things around her. From a guy’s point of view, this can be quite taxing because guys don’t think that way. To that end, I think female readers will enjoy the story more. I think Konstanz has a wonderful imagination and for a debut novel, she did a wonderful job with the fantastic elements. Although I agree with the statement that “we must suspend our disbelief to be entertained” (especially when it comes to paranormal stories) there are certain elements of human behavior and logic that can’t be glazed over or ignored. I was drawn out of the story when Christina bought a house for her boyfriend and had it furnished in one night. If there were paranormal elements at work then maybe I could have accepted it, but that wasn’t the case. A second issue was when her “soul mate” figured out she was a demon and was completely cool with it. I think this was a missed opportunity for some compelling conflict that could have made their relationship deeper. I was a bit uneasy how “deeply” Christina fell in love with someone she is discovers is her soul mate, after all, she is only seventeen. I felt the ending and the climax was a bit rushed. Again, there were great chances to explore the conflicts introduced, but they were resolved pretty quickly. To be fair, I’m not really the target audience for this type of book. Still, I think if I would have given it a higher rating if I wasn’t distracted by the issues I noted above. I think Konstanz Silverbow has talent and promise of being a writer and encourage her to keep writing!

(2.5 stars) I was really excited for this one, but Only Half Alive and I just could not get on... *sigh* Christina. Never have I disliked a MC so much. There was about 20% in the middle where I actually liked her, around the time she met Riley and found out the truth about Finn, but then it was straight back to frustration. I think a lot of that stemmed from the fact that she's no naive and trusting. She meets Finn, a stranger, and trusts him after one day. I think a lot of that stemmed from the fact that she's no naive and trusting. She meets Finn, a stranger, and trusts him after one day. He could literally have been a serial killer but she trusts him without question. I supposed (later on) that this was because of her and Finn's previous connection, but then she goes and does the same thing with her father. She just trusts him without question. Maybe I'm just extremely wary of people and slow to trust but it seemed pretty foolish to me and because of that I just couldn't connect with her. Luckily the story made up for it. Only Half Alive is a quick, entertaining read. The plot is unique, and as frustrating as I find Christina, she isn't a carbon copy of a million other characters, which is always nice. There's a big emphasis on light and dark, and how being dark doesn't necessarily make a bad person, and I really liked the way that was explored. Despite the rushed, forced feel of the relationships, there are reasons for it, so it wasn't too hard to overlook how Christina went from 'Whatever' to 'Holy crap I love you' in a day. The supporting characters were interesting at times and a bit flat at others. Finn I hated at first - he just seemed way too obsessed with Christina to be healthy. But that all made sense later and I grew to actually like him. I was rooting for Finn/Christina, to be honest. Riley didn't make too much of an impression on me; he's more of a water-colour as opposed to Finn's vibrant oil. Overall, I didn't mind it - it's certainly not the worst book I've ever read. The middle was great. I skimmed the last 30% to be honest, because I was a bit disillusioned with the whole thing, but it's a good book if you can get past Christina's insta-trust.

Only Half Alive is a hauntingly gripping tale of how the love of others can shine a warm and brilliant light that will bring life to the darkest parts of our heart. While we may think that we can survive depending only upon ourselves, we know in the depths of our soul that that is not the case at all. It is a love that fights for the very essence of the amazing characters that live within this truly captivating story. Each of them will steal your heart in a very different way and you will find it very hard to say goodbye. I very much enjoyed the interesting take on the creatures of magic and lore. To not see the same old way that they would normally be played out in a story was so refreshing. Their very existence was turned on its head, and it was such a wonderful change of pace. It was as if I was reading about them for the very first time. Nothing is what it seems throughout this story, and I loved that! Held captive and breathless by the unknown, I watched as countless mysteries were carefully and slowly unraveled before my eyes. Words fail me when it comes to describing just how much I treasured every aspect of this astonishing journey. I can only hope that I will see more from these breathtaking characters in the not too distant future. Konstanz Silverbow has found a place forever on my bookshelf and in my heart. Her soul-searching honesty and awe-inspiring hope has left my heart more content and my mind poised for more of her startling revelations. I am very eager to see what she has in store for us.

3,5 Stars I truly enjoyed reading this story about a girl wanting to be more than darkness, she wanted to be light. Quite impossible when you’re a demon. Or so one would think. I believe in soulmates, in your one true love. I also know that just because you’ve found the right one, it isn’t just kisses, sunshine and rainbows. This story is about darkness, light, love, loss, hope and fear. It is a story about believing in who (and what) you are, to accept the person you are and live your life. For seventeen years Christina has been alone, believing she was evil. In a very short time span, she discovers more truths about her life, herself and her family – and finds her soulmate. Honestly, it would most likely drive anyone insane. But Christina isn’t allowed to enjoy what she has before everything is ripped away from her again, but this time she is ready to go to war to get back what is hers. The story flows easily, and I did enjoy reading it. I’ll have to admit that I was getting to a point where I was getting tired of all the tears. I understood why, but at the same time, I just wanted her to stop crying every damn page. That is my main complaint really. All those tears. Not that I don’t understand why she keeps crying, but at the same time… It got to be too much. There is also a little about Christina and Finn’s “shared” past. I was actually afraid that would run in the wrong direction, but luckily Konstanz closes it before it can be too awkward. Well done. Had she chosen to push it a bit further, it would’ve ruined too much, in my opinion. Otherwise a good, interesting plot, characters that was likeable, the story flowed good without major hick-ups.

She Learns that being different isn't always a bad thing and that along the way she may even find the love she has been looking for. This book was a great read !!! I loved most of the characters with each of their own unique quirkiness. The story flowed along smoothly and was exciting. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The only part I was not really impressed with is the references to Witches. Being someone who classifies herself as a Witch I tend to not like when Witches get a bad rap for things that most Witches would never do. I would even enjoy reading more about these main characters in the future. So Kudos to you Konstanz I give this 4 stars and look forward to reading more from you :-)

Wow, I so wish the star rating would be higher it was that good!!! I couldn't put the book down I had to keep turning the page made sleeping for work very hard along with getting anything else around the house done lol. This was a new way to introduce the paranormal world to a story about light and dark it was written really well together at first I wasn't to for sure about the hole things working out that well but as I got reading and things started to make since and the story came together I l Wow, I so wish the star rating would be higher it was that good!!! I did like how she (the author) brought in different paranormal characters the ones we don't normally hear about like the unicorns. They we're made completely evil like I will kill you evil. which was nice for once oh can't forget about the dragons they weren't talked about that much but a part I do remember is they are really nice in the story surprise lol. Anyways yes, there where vampires in the story I guess it wouldn't be a paranormal story without the Demons and Vampires lol. Everyone who likes/loves the paranormal world give this a try it will blow your mind away they way almost all the paranormal characters are in this story and what's evil VS. good in this book will shock the socks off you lol. The characters lives are well put and the way it was written to explain everything going on was great too like I said it was really written great!! *** I received this story from the Author for free in exchange for an honest review.**

I wanted so much to like this book. The book cover is beautiful and her promotions are very appealing. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the book. Though her language was descriptive and lively, the characters were flat. The POV is first person, but she often includes observations that are outside first person. She repeats the same thoughts a lot, leaving a lot of fluff in the way of the story. For instance, the reader knows the main character doesn’t want to be a demon. But she repeats that thought so often it gets annoying. The other characters all talk and act alike. I was not attached to any of them and honestly felt you could cut most of them from the story and not lose anything. I saw a lot of plot holes, pointless interactions, and no explanations, while there were opportunities to deepen the story that were not taken. Many of the characters assume information they would have no way of knowing. I had a hard time rating the book because I wanted so much to like it and give it a five star rating, but I actually had to force myself to finish it. There were a lot of interesting ideas that I spent time pondering, but that only leads me to think that the writer has great ideas, but hasn’t mastered the art yet. I believe this is her first novel so I expect her writing has become better, however, and she will produce great books in the future (if she hasn’t already).

Wow... Did I read the book that everyone else is rating like 3-5 stars? Reading some of the reviews and then thinking about my own personal opinion there is a huge difference. The upside of this book is it's fast paced. The downside, there is an awkward sort of love triangle (to some extent), and a war before the book is half over. She fell in love in like what, a chapter or two? The relationship between her and Finn seemed almost instant after she stole from him. The characters and not much bet Wow... Everyone seemed to talk the exact same. Everything seemed so similar with them. When reading what one of them said and then reading a response it seemed like the same character talking, regardless of their age or how much they appeared in the book. Everything was really rushed, especially the ending. The war lasted maybe twenty pages and was really cheesy almost. I was so confused about some thing that just annoyed me because they made no sense. Overall it was a fast read, even of I skimmed most of the second half. It just or really repetitive. Maybe just in the wrong frame of mind, but with my feelings at the moment I probably wouldn't read anything else by this author any time soon.

Dark vs Light AMAZING! When I finished reading this book, that is the best I could come up with when wanting to explain what I thought about it. I'm still somewhat speechless. She knew she was a demon and thought she would never be like the humans she watched from those shadows - happy, alive, in love. Then one day she meets Finn and he starts to open her eyes to other possibilities - the fact that she is indeed not alone. After living so many years in the shadows, hating who she thought she was... will she be able to break out of the dark and into the light? I absolutely LOVED reading this book! The twist on the usual demons, vampires, witches, etc. is fresh and creative. Who would have EVER thought that unicorns could be evil?? The characters were amazing and well-developed. This is a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger but with that said... I would love to read more about these characters!! I had the pleasure of following the author through much of her journey in writing and publishing this... her first published book. Great job!!!

I don't want to say to much afraid that I will let some spoilers slip, but this book pulled me in from the first sentence and didn't let me go until the end. Christina is a demon and she doesn't want to be one, all she wants is the light. Along the journey to finding the light she meets a vampire, a werewolf, her soul mate and other paranormal creatures. This book is very well written and Konstanz is a awesome author. From now on as soon as one of her books go on sale I will be purchasing it without even reading what it's about, that's how great this book was!!

I am not sure what I expected from this story but it was definitely not what I got. It's a story of fate, love, lose, secrets, lies, and finding yourself. And anything you think you know about paranormal creatures will be blown out the water. Konstanz adds a new twist on the nature of these creatures. It is an interesting concept. The only problem I had was it was never fully explained the nature of the relationship between a vampire and werewolf. I got an ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review... From the start and throughout the whole book I felt sorry for Christina. She is so lonely without any friends and family, fighting her demon nature from taking over her and losing control. But luckily, she gets to know Finn, her preordained ex-soulmate(now vampire),who helps her to find her new soulmate. This task is essential for Christina. If she wants to feel whole and alive and subdue demon inside, she needs to find and be with her l I got an ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review... Anyway, thanks Konstanz for this story! <3

Only Half Alive is a great story that packs a lot of punch to it. It was a little slow to start but then once it started to go there was no stopping it. At that point I was hooked and could not put it down. It was a very vividly written story. I was captivated by the scenes as they played out in my mind each one taking me to another place it was wonderful! As she is a demon and no longer wants to be. She doesn't seem to have an evil bone about her. She will have to walk through the darkness to reach the light she so needs and wants. I will stop there as I will end up telling you the whole story. I will tell you this I completely enjoyed this book and as for this being a debut novel for Konstanz Siverbow I say bring it on girl I would love to see what she has for us next!

Christina goes through life living in darkness and moving within the shadows. Mr. Duke her current employer hires her to do a job, a job that brings Finn into her world. Only Half Alive is a good and funny, paranormal read that I enjoyed from beginning to end and I loved the characters within the story. It being free is an added bonus and I suggest you one click it. I read the book in one sitting and I love the fact that the ending doesn’t have a cliff hanger. This is my first book from this author and I look forward to future books.

The paperback I read had just a couple of small typos and normally that would bother me, but the book was so engrossing that I barely noticed. It was like a vacuum, sucking me in so I couldn’t put it down if I tried. The book was exciting, but at the same time sprinkled with light-hearted humor that kept it from getting too intense. There was so much description that I could see everything as I read, but the description was interspersed beautifully so that it didn’t slow down the story at all. I loved the character of Finn. He was so fun to read as he traversed the tangled web of relationships that sometimes led to love and sometimes to animosity. This book was intriguing with beautifully (and believably) written characters. I would love to see more stories set in this world construct.
