Diagnosed with two auto immune disorders: psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis, Fisch decided to take up a keto diet earlier on in her life at the age of 18-19. As the tagline of the book describes, it is full of low carb, high fat recipes for busy people on a keto diet. Looking for ways to alleviate pain, she followed her doctor’s advice and started a low carb diet by cutting out sugar intake. Ment Diagnosed with two auto immune disorders: psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis, Fisch decided to take up a keto diet earlier on in her life at the age of 18-19. As the tagline of the book describes, it is full of low carb, high fat recipes for busy people on a keto diet. Looking for ways to alleviate pain, she followed her doctor’s advice and started a low carb diet by cutting out sugar intake. Following a keto diet helps body to burn fat/ ketones for energy instead of burning sugar for energy. Mental clarity, reduced inflammation and increased energy are some of its benefits. Macro nutrients are the major nutritional elements that make up the caloric content of food. The trick is to avoid low quality fats. Intermittent fasting can be adopted as a part of a ketogenic lifestyle. She then goes on to provide a basic guideline about managing electrolytes to maintain a keto diet that necessitates drinking a lot of water. Paleo is often used interchangeably with Keto. It is not as high in fat or low in carbs as keto and has several differences as well as types. It is possible to follow a keto diet while following principles of both. Fisch mentions some must have kitchen equipment as well before getting to the nitty gritty of her recipes. The chart about foods to enjoy and foods to avoid is very helpful. It is wise to have a well -stocked pantry and some pantry essentials include pink Himalayan salt, ghee, olive oil and grass fed butter. She enlists some of her favourite keto products including Kerrygold Butter, Fat Snax Cookies, Miracle Noodles and Miracle Rice and many more. Details about keto cooking is provided in a few short paragraphs under sub headings. Its short, easy to understand and offers a prelude to the recipes that are to follow. The amazing thing about these recipes is that they can be cooked in a single pot, in a single pan, within about 30 minutes and are vegetarian. Each recipe calls for only 5 main ingredients. The recipes are provided with the ingredients to the left along with their cooking time and the procedure on the right. A short ingredient tip is provided below each of these. The book is extremely organised with recipes divided into smoothies and breakfast; soups and salads; side dishes and snacks, fish and poultry entrees; pork and beef entrees and ultimately some really yummy desserts and sweet treats. The chapter on sauces and dressings is a bonus with its innumerable number of creative and delicious sauce combos. The recipe title index at the back of the book makes recipes easily accessible. Fisch offers some incredibly simple solutions through her thoughtful and well experimented recipes to create natural, wholesome meals out of just 5 ingredients. I hadn't heard about this book at all, but it's featured as part of the newest Humble Bundle, and I had to scoop it up. I paid $19 for the full bundle and it was almost worth it entirely for this book alone. Really. I've looked at A LOT of keto recipes in the last 4 months and I find so many of them are overly complicated, require a lot of ingredient, require a lot of WEIRD ingredients (like xylitol, MCT oil, etc), and don't seem worth the trouble. What I like about this book is that it's food. Regular, recognizable food, but ketoized. Also, the nutritional estimates are there on each page so you can plan and make sure it fits your macros. And she has a lot of tips at the bottom for substitutions and add-ins. Very useful. The only downside to the book is I wish it had more pictures, but I'm happy to have all these new recipes, and I've already subscribed to the author's blog, "Keto in the City" to ensure I don't miss out on any others! (Some of the recipes that tempted me most: Beef & Broccoli Roast Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Wings, w/ side salad Garlic Butter Shrimp Steak & Egg Bibimbap Pumpkin Crustless Cheesecake Bites) Anyway, I recommned checking Humble Bundle out to see if this or other books catch your eye. Aside from cookbooks there's a few on yoga, mindfulness, cognitive behaviour therapy and strength training.

I love that all of these recipes are keto friendly and require 5 or less ingredients. Everything seems pretty simple to make. I would have given it 5 stars except that it didn't have many pictures at all of the food which I would've found helpful.

Keto is all the rage right now and being a girl that is overweight herself my doctor has recommended that I go for a lower carb lifestyle and ketogenic diet is perfect! I have to admit that I am scared to dive right in feet first and thought trying a few new recipes might help me ease my way into a new way of eating. The Easy 5-Ingredient Ketogenic Diet Cookbook is the perfect place to start in my opinion. It gives you a quick synapsis of what the Ketogenic Diet is all about and then delves right into the yummy recipes. The few pictures that are included are gorgeous but what really caught my eye was how easy the recipes are! I hate cooking but so many of these recipes require little to no effort on my part so this gives this cookbook high marks from me! The ingredients are well known and readily available which is also a plus and a lot of the recipes call for the same ingredients which helps leave little to no waste and gives variety for your meal plan. However, I do have a few complaints about this cookbook. My first complaint is that many of the recipes call for more than five ingredients, yet the book in entitled, "The Easy 5-Ingredient Ketogenic Diet Cookbook". It feels like false advertising to me but this is a pretty small complaint when compared to all the positives of this book. I also noted that several of the recipes seem to be higher in carbs than you would expect so you need to be careful and possibly calculate the carbs for yourself before you consume them. My final issue is with the actual book itself. I have the paperback version which you would think would make it easy to keep open while you're writing down the ingredients needed, or making the recipes themselves, but it does not. I was constantly fighting my book to stay open which was frustrating. I eventually downloaded the Kindle version on my Kindle Unlimited and it was perfect! There is a spiral-bound option as well if you prefer print which I would highly recommend. All in all, this is a great Ketogenic Diet cookbook and perfect for those of us who are just starting out on their keto journey.

Great Recipes We have tried most of the recipes in this book and they are phenomenal. I'm not a veggie lover but because I wanted to be healthier I've decided to start using them in my foods more often. Anyway this one has some but not an over abundance of it. It has helped me so much to stay on Keto because it gave me the recipes and I didn't have to think about counting carbs, fat and protein which is always my downfall when dieting. I'm simply not into keeping up with every little thing I put in my mouth. With this book I've been able to manage dinners by the week (I grocery shop weekly) and only add the things to my grocery list that I need. It helps me to stay out of isles I don't need to go in. And recently with Walmarts pick up option it makes it even easier for me not to wander. The only issue I have is an issue I seem to have with all of these books. There are no side dishes. Just main dishes, salads and deserts. I mean I love meat and salads but can I get some low carb side dishes other than salads. BUT, I can honestly say some of the dishes in this book can be easily used as sides, like the roasted brussel sprouts and bacon. Can't believe I just said that, brussel sprouts? In MY mouth? Who knew! Other than that it was super easy to read, easy to follow, the ingredients weren't ridiculously expensive once u got thru the initial investment( there were things I never used or bought and were fairly expensive like the himalayan salt, toasted sesame oils, coconut and almond flours, ghee etc) it tends to save u a bit of money because a lot of the recipes have some of the same ingredients. I've been able to build a list of different dinners and lunches for my husband (who I'm worried about being on Keto since he is a skinny man who in no way needs to lose weight). U really can't go wrong with this one

I've been looking to learn more about the Keto diet and possibly take part in it. So I've been poking around various keto cookbooks and researching a little bit. This book is was a great start. It gives a good description of what keto is and why it's a popular diet choice. After reading through the recipes and even trying a few, I'm still not sure if I'm ready to commit to a keto diet. It's a lot of work with tracking and such, but a lot of the recipes were really yummy. The recipes are presented in a really visually appealing way. The whole book looks extremely professional. And each recipe has a substitution tip, ingredient tip, or variation as well as a side bar that tells whether the recipe is one pot, one pan, 30-minute, no cook, vegetarian. The nutrition facts and calories are also included. The only major problem I had with a lot of the recipes is that some of them are extremely high in calories. I'm trying to lose weight, so a lot of the recipes aren't really applicable to me. But the book doesn't like when they says the recipes are quick and easy. That definitely was true and I'll probably end up using a few, just taking some of the higher calorie ingredients out. You can buy the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Easy-5-Ingredi...

This was an enjoyable book with many interesting and enticing recipes. Occasionally, I found the author was hindered by her restrictions to only 5 ingredients, but most of the time I preferred the simplify limiting the dishes provided. Again I'm mixed on their inclusion in this book. On one hand, its good to mention common tools or popular products in the book because it shows a common knowledge base. On the other hand, promoting some of these tools that have mixed scientific/nutritional backing raises red flags. Of course, the Ketogenic diet in general is newer (outside of it's use to treat epilepsy). Dietitians opinions of the diet itself let alone some of the new supplements is mixed. Fisch's book is a wonderful recipe book even for non ketogenic people. A few alterations and her high fat meals could be low to mid fat meals and still provide a variety of whole food nutrias ingredients that will help balance many people's diets.

Made the creamy tomato soup recipe this weekend to use up some garden tomatoes that needed to be used up. It was splendid! There are several other recipes in here I'm going to try before returning it to the library. If they are as good, I'll be buying this one for my permanent collection. (Who needs 12 servings of a leftover dessert looking at you every time you go in the kitchen?) Easy to scale up if necessary. When you live the low carb lifestyle, you make almost everything you want from scratch, because you just don't go out to eat very often. Having a selection of simple recipes, without a bazillion funky ingredients is tantamount to success. That's what's in here. Not necessarily exciting new fun recipes you've never heard of or thought of, but well designed simple and delicious recipes you can lean on again and again.

Informative and helpful with easy recipes This book is very informative for those of us learning about Keto. It helped me understand the basics by giving a good overview of how your body works on Keto. I appreciate the list of kitchen tools you need to prep. I feel a lot of recipe books leave that out and you realize as you are making a dish you don’t have a tool they believe you should own. This gratefulness is how I feel about the list for staples in your fridge and pantry. I am most thankful that these can be prepped and cooked in 30 minutes usually using one pan, crock pot, roasting pan or such. It is very helpful for those of us who are new to this way of cooking.

As someone who has always heard that fat is bad, this book still leaves me feeling with the amount of fat is used. Yes, I know, most of it is good fat, with higher amounts of protein but sometimes it’s harder to get over that mental hurdle. I haven’t checked on pricing or how how easy these items would be to get in my northern climes but it’s something I’d look into. I’m not sure if I could ever really give up my carbs ( cinnamon buns you are my downfall! ) so I’m not sure how well I’d be able to As someone who has always heard that fat is bad, this book still leaves me feeling with the amount of fat is used. The recipes themselves seemed quite easy to follow thanks to the 5 ingredient ethos, although I'll admit that I'm still struggling a bit with the Ketogenic concept as a whole, which is what put me off this book a little. In saying that, it was super simple to follow and really did break things down for you, so I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to follow the Keto diet but is unhappy with the often black-and-white and hard-to-follow Keto books out there.

Pretty good cookbook. I was confused by the fact that some of the dessert recipes have lower net carbs indicated than seems correct. For instance, the crustless cheesecake bites on page 153 have 18g of carbs, 0g of fiber, and net carbs are listed as 2g. How is that possible? Is it because of the addition of Swerve sweetener? It's not explained, and only describes calculating net carbs as total carbs minus fiber.

Lots of good variety This cookbook has a good amount of variety in its recipes. What I liked is the consumer doesn't have to buy expensive, gourmet ingredients as most can be found in a well-stocked kitchen. What I didn't care for are the majority of recipes are geared for two servings.

I love this book! It's easy reading, to start with, and it just makes sense. I've fallen off the wagon, accidentally, but climbing back on. Something I thought was carb free, wasn't. It's now banished to the land of used to be, as I continue my quest for normal blood sugar without insulin. The recipes included are both easy and appealing, a double whammy for me. Thank you!!!

There are some good ideas in here. The recipes mostly do not rely on weirdo protein powders, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Just sub normal sugar for the gross fake sweetener and the recipes should taste great!
