As we are on the diet, I have read a few and looked through the recipes provided. The Laska’s book is a new look at being Keto. It gives those on the diet who don’t adhere to the heavy duty rules a chance to lose weight without following the intense counting and purchasing of expensive additives that Keto originally came out with. It is not to say that those of us who are ‘Dirty Keto’ dieters don’t count our carbs and cut out sugar. We do. Many folks cannot afford the expensive sugar replacements preferred by many proponents of the diet. A large bag of stevia to use for baking and cooking works as well as the expensive brand. Her method of losing weight works. It is Keto, just revising it so the diet can be worked in with family meals. In our house we are both on Keto so we don’t have to plan for others eating non-Keto foods. When shopping I do just like Stephanie recommends. That is, to check the grid that lists the contents of the food on the box or package. Yes, we need to trust the label but it also means we need to understand how to read the label correctly to know the net carb count. She gives the reader hints on what to look for at the grocery, where to shop, and what to avoid. The recipes are familiar as I have used some. There were some that I plan to try, things that I had not thought of. Most of us who crave comfort food check the internet for a Keto equivalent and how to change the recipe from what we are used to. The authors have done the work for many food choices. They provide the recipe and if necessary suggest where to find the item. Easy directions are given and in most cases a photo is provided. In the beginning a fairly complete list of Keto food categories is given. It would be worth making a copy to take shopping if you are new to the diet. I like having a convenient list to check as I am cooking and am not sure. I do have Google available in my kitchen and at times ask for carb values of a food before using it. You may wonder if we have lost weight? It has been six months and we have both have lost a substantial amount. Yes we will continue using the diet as it is healthy, nutritious and easy to plan meals. The Dirty, Lazy Keto Cookbook by Stephanie and Bill Laska will be published by Adams Media on January 7, 2020. It is a good resource for new recipes as well as ways to plan meals without spending a fortune and yet sticking to the diet.

My doctor told me I need to go low carb and high protein for my epilepsy. Keto was originally designed as a treatment for epilepsy and my neurologist recommended a low carb, high protein, moderate keto lifestyle to see if that combined with medication would help my seizures in both frequency and severity. Keto was originally designed as a treatment for epilepsy and my neurologist recommended a low carb, high protein, moderate keto lifestyle to see if that combined with medication would help my seizures in both frequency and severity. I've been researching and downloading every book available to find recipes that would fit my family's tastes and I've found a lot of recipes, but I've always been afraid of the cravings and the strict rules. Then I discovered Lazy Keto. As long as it fits in my macros I can eat it. I can have chocolate. I can have most vegetables (most strict keto diets have a long list of vegetables that you can't eat. I love my veggies.) I can have breadsticks and pizza! Stephanie Laska credits her 140 pound weight loss to lazy keto because of the same reasons. Strict keto is too restricting and daunting for some people. The macros, the ketosis strips, the standing in the aisle monitoring every ingredient. The expense. And because most foods require making from spice mixes on, what if you aren't big on cooking or don't have time to make a recipe that takes an hour and a half or more plus prep every night? Lazy keto has given me hope that I can be successful, and Stephanie's "if I can, you can" point of view and her tips for "shortcuts" alleviate some of my fears about giving up halfway through the year. I will admit, the titles of the recipes were cheesy, and I'm not sure I'll ever believe radishes can be a substitute for potatoes in hash browns. But, there were many recipes for real food that my family will eat happily. It wasn’t 50 recipes for fat bombs and a few main dishes that involve 20 ingredients and a half a day. This will be a cookbook that will be kept closely on hand during meal planning days.

Fairly new to the world of Keto, I was interested in reviewing this book simply because of the title -- and I wasn't disappointed. Ms. Laska's description of her weight-loss journey that brought her to trying keto is completely relate-able; as is her views on keto. It's something I don't enjoy at all due to restrictions, but I can't deny its positive effects so far. I'm so glad I decided to give this one a try because this is now my favorite cookbook! Stephanie's story is such an inspiration, but the best part is her funny, quirky, and realistic attitude towards dieting, eating, and so on. We are by no means avid Keto dieters, however, I love digging through Keto recipes to make because my husband is Diabetic. Whenever I can find low carb recipes that are filling and yummy, I get so excited. When he doesn't know they are low carb - even better! The layout of this book is simple and logical with recipes divided into breakfast, snacks, salads/soups, and so on. Budget-friendly shoppers will appreciate the simple ingredients that won't cost a fortune, in addition to the fact that things can be substituted here and there using a little common sense and creativity. Honestly, there are hot dogs on the approved list. This is something that's on sale all of the time, filling, and you can do anything from boiling them to grilling them and they are tasty. I'm not a fan of radishes so I will be skipping all of the recipes including radishes, but the point is, there is a little bit of something for everyone in this book! I just downloaded this the other day and have already made the Starbucks Egg Bites (which were amazing), the Hangover Bacon-Wrapped Pickles (also amazing), and the Drunken Pot Roast (which was very tasty, but my hubby was missing carrots and potatoes, nevertheless). The next recipe I am trying is the McDonald's Cheeseburger soup and I can't wait! I highly recommend this one for people that are wanting to be carb conscious eaters without having to completely change their lives. This is simple, realistic, and doable. *Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO Cookbook by Stephanie and William Laska was a gem to dive into. I found the author's style to be fun, open and similar to chatting with a friend about real life nutrition. She is a relief to read in the day of Keto Police reprimanding each and every thing that doesn't fall into strict keto guidelines. Lets face it, there are many people who have lost incredible amounts of weight by altering keto to fit their lifestyle. A judgement and guilt free zone is what we are all looking for to investigate what works AND what doesn't for our chemistry. The beginning of this book is super helpful on the basics of a keto way of eating, useful for both the beginner and the knowledgeable. There are pages of grocery lists included complete with net carb counts. The selection of recopies is amazing. The author also states that if you don't like one, skip over it. Don't like an ingredient? Swap it out with another and make it your own. She doesn't require ingredients that are hard to find or out of most household budgets (i.e.: Dolla Store Pumpkin Soup). The recipes range from the simple (Olive Garden Salad) to the gourmet (Basil Coconut Curry Shrimp). I have read many Keto cookbooks and this one is by far the most useful for me. I will be revisiting it time and time again. Many thanks to Netgalley and Adams Media for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Of note, I have never given another keto cookbook a 5 star rating!

I loved this book. The best advice was stick to what works for you! LOVED that the author did not go all crazy and say YOU MUST follow these recipes. NO! She was open and honest and said, hey if you like something try to make it more Keto Friendly, here is what I have found. The book is neatly organized, has a TON of pics of food, and is easy to understand. Plus the best part, the author does not have you buy EXPENSIVE ingredients that you would only use once. Clear, concise, and easy , these recipes don't disappoint if you're doing keto or thinking about it. Pictures were a nice touch, they looked yummy and I'm eager to try them. Authors story was sprinkled thruout, so you got a good idea about her back story. Well worth a read of you want to go the keto route. 3.5 stars, more like. I was hoping to be inspired by this cookbook (any cookbook I pick up), but this one is just meh for me. I'm all in support of a version of keto that's more loose guidelines than strict macro-counting, and the focus here is clearly on less carbs, not necessarily high fat. There were a dozen recipes I'm going to try, and hopefully they turn out great. I wish each had an accompanying photo, because that always helps me understand what to expect, but alas. I liked the Tips & Tricks she included, but was a little lost on her lack of specification about no-carb sweeteners in recipes (they vary wildly in sweetness and texture, and I don't know if her vagueness means any can be used, wet or dry, but then she also refers to them as packets, so maybe she only means Splenda or Monkfruit? I'm a bit confused, and clearly it's going to be trial and error. Nothing here was too earth-shattering, but on the flipside, it was nice to hear that most of the recipes can be made it under an hour.

I LOVE this cookbook and have made so many recipes from this cookbook. I love the way Stephanie Laska talks when she refers to about things like the “Keto Police”. Her Purple Eggplant Lasagna is wonderful as is the Broc Omama Cheese Soup - except I used cauliflower because I had that on hand. The Little Italy Baked Lasagna was exceptional. I look forward to making more recipes from this incredibly fun book!

I was very excited to get this give away because my husband does the keto diet and I was hoping this would be a good book to figure out more things for me to make for him. I generally make the same meals for him over and over. Reading through this I have so many more ideas. There are some things in this book however, that I would have to go to a specialty store to purchase for some of the recipes. Most recipes look very do-able and delicious! He is excited to see what I use from this book.

I received this book from Goodreads for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own. Author is candid and really funny. Dieting isn't at all enjoyable. She covers the basics of keto, information and insights from personal experience. The recipes that follow give a full spectrum of meal planning with ingredients that are easy to find and relatively inexpensive.

The Dirty, Lazy, Keto cookbook is for those dieters who are open to artificial sweeteners and some packaged food as part of the diet and count the carbs they eat per day rather than the whole macro nutrients. With the contents there are picture keys next to each recipe, however the explanation of those keys is not explained until page 15, far too far into the book. This should be first in my opinion. The introduction is interesting about her journey to weight loss, but also feels like an online blog post. In fact, all the chapter introductions feel like blog posts, especially when a chunk of the text is highlighted. In the first two chapters there is a Keto food pyramid for how to spend your daily net carbs, along with an explanation on how to calculate the net carbs from a food label. There is a grocery list and includes the net carbs and is split into diary, protein, produce (fruit & veg), drinks, baking, sauces & spices, cans & jars and miscellaneous alongside a list of foods that are good to get your started such as Zoodles (courgetti) and cauliflower rice and sugar substitutes. Also included is a list of foods to avoid as they are high in carbs, There is also a list of equipment that might be needed, from containers to cooking items. The recipes are split into: - Breakfast - Soups and Salads - Snacks - Breads, pasta and pizza - Sides - Main dishes - Drinks and Desserts The recipes comes with a small introduction, a list of ingredients though the measurements and oven temperatures are in imperial only, steps to follow, shows the net carbs, other nutritional information, servings size and preparation and cooking times. Some of the recipes come with a colour photograph. The recipes look interesting to make for the whole family and there are certainly a few there that I would like to try, especially some of the pizza bases as they look like an interesting alternative to the traditional dough. At the back of the book there is a glossary and a metric conversion chart for measurements, pan sizes and oven temperatures, though no Gas Mark. I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I did like this book and am hoping that the fact that the formatting was totally off was just because it was on my Kindle app on my phone because it looked really strange. That being said, the content was well laid out and in spite of it being a cookbook, I found myself actually reading it all the way through as if it were a story. Full disclosure I neither prepared any of the recipes nor actually have any proof that this author's version of keto is actually effective, but if the recipes, in fac I did like this book and am hoping that the fact that the formatting was totally off was just because it was on my Kindle app on my phone because it looked really strange. Full disclosure I neither prepared any of the recipes nor actually have any proof that this author's version of keto is actually effective, but if the recipes, in fact, taste good and are actually keto (meaning if you eat exclusively what is specified in here you will go into ketosis and lose weight) then this book is excellent. The ingredient lists are simple and short and the methods are easy to follow. The author is relatable. Often on food blogs, the author has a lot of backstory before the recipe that is verbose and not very interesting, but this is a story of a regular person who uses wit to tie her fitness journey together. The only complaint I have besides the format (and I am giving the benefit of the doubt that it will be fixed in the final print version) is that personally I prefer LOTS of photos in cookbooks. Literally, one reason I even buy cookbooks is so I can see pics of the final product and there is maybe one pic per 3 or more recipes. She somewhat makes up for it by the fact that it is entertaining to read, but more pictures would really enhance this book and possibly give it 5 stars for me. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This book is written by Stefanie Laska who herself has lost 140 lbs and kept the weight off for six years using the recipes contained in this book. That is an amazing achievement and if this book can help people make a positive change towards a healthier lifestyle then this book is a winner. Personally I don't think the Keto diet is for me, not even the 'Dirty' version 🙂. Very few of the recipes appeal to me so I just know that I would never be able to sustain it. That said we are all different and this book may work wonders for somebody else. I received an uncorrected proof copy of this book to review so am not going to nit pick over the things that need changing as I'm sure that is all being dealt with by someone much more qualified than myself. What I will say is that a pet hate of mine is recipes with 'quirky' names. I like the title of a recipe to tell me exactly what the dish is. Stefanie is however a very witty and made this book very enjoyable to read so I will forgive her for this. She comes across as a very real person who enjoys food every bit as much as I do. I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering following a Keto style diet. The book is very informative and Stefanie definitely knows her stuff. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy of this title in exchange for an unbiased review.

Stephanie's weight loss story is such an inspiration to my life and many other's through her Dirty, Lazy Facebook group. She makes living keto simple, practical, and without all the hard and overly strict rules that so many diets adhere to that only seem to set us up for failure. In a world where there is food and temptation all around us, Stephanie shows you how to lose weight, get creative with healthy food choices, and actually enjoy doing it! Losing weight doesn't have to be overly hard and impossible. It's actually within our reach, and Stephanie sets the example herself. She not only proves that this lifestyle works, but that it can withstand the test of time. And all this without having to starve yourself or feel deprived! Healthy foods, and satisfied eating. It's a win-win! Her new cookbook makes this easy by taking the guess work out with simple to read and follow recipes, colorful pictures and easy formatting. It is also filled with several tips to help you along your way. Living this "dirty, lazy" ketogenic lifestyle has helped me personally to not only lose 100 pounds but to keep it off after years of yo-yo dieting and two failed attempts to lose weight through major surgeries. Stephanie and William's DLK books are all that you need to get started and guide you along every step of the way as you get closer and closer to realizing your own goals and potential!

I have started this book as the busiest time in my year Christmas so I have not had the chance or the time to try many of the recipes or to even try and stick to this form of eating. But it is the plan for this year to start my Keto journey and I feel that this book may just be my Food Bible. More photos would have been better as I am a visual person and tend to see something and thing Yum yum I want to make that or try that one. The recipes are split into: - Breakfast - Soups and Salads - Snacks - Bread, pasta and pizza - Sides - Main dishes - Drinks and Desserts Like myself, I believe this book would be great for all new Keto dieters as it seems to cut all the crap out and makes you feel you can stick to the way of eating. Seems like the recipes are well fitted for families and the cost of items is what a family can afford. I am looking forward to implementing this into my new year and hoping for some results. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC copy of this book to which I have written my honest and voluntary review.

This is a great cookbook that does not require fancy ingredients you have never heard of, and you probably already have them on hand in the kitchen. Recipes are easy and step by step. Not all the recipes have photos, but the ones that do make you drool LOL. The N'Awlins chicken is amazing and turns out so tender that you do not need a knife at all. Also made the Oriental Meatballs (not the name, but don't have the cookbook here at work). VERY filling and has ground flax seeds for extra nutrition, too :) Have not made anything else yet, but the cookbook has sprouted lots of bookmarks for the ones that are going to be make soon. If just starting out, I really do recommend, as this proves that Keto does NOT need to be boring!

This book was a quick read once I mentally overlooked the spelling and editing mistakes. I believe the copy I received was probably not yet edited. I wanted to read as I have been researching Keto for a months online and other, reading finds to decide if I am indeed going to try it. This book did not contain any information that I had not previously been able to find online but the author peppered it with snapshots of her life and such to attempt to set it apart. This did not help to make the book interesting or make one feel, this is a keeper. Its saving grace is that it tries to make the reader feel like keto can be attempted without stringent restrictions and that dieting should and can be approached in whatever way fits one best. I would not personally purchase this book This copy was provided to me through netgallery and the opinions I impart are honest , freely given and completely my own.
