    A well written, story about Emma and her family, firstly in Liverpool and then in Ireland. An easy to read writing style that flows throughout. England is on the brink of war with Germany and Ireland is endlessly caught up in the difficulties with England. Emma and her brother Johnny must move from Liverpool after their house burns with their parents trapped inside. In shock, they move to Dublin to be with their Grandmother, to find more family drama.     History made very personal Excellent recounting of a families experience of both the conflict between the English and the Irish, as well as the first world war. The character development is amazing, the plot was excellent and interesting with many twists and turns. A terrific book
